Insights

Insights is basically an analytics dashboard but for your Journal. You can see how many entries you’ve created, your current streak, your longest streak, how many words you’ve written.

Insights are a lot more powerful. That is because of the AI Memory feature. There is a separate section on this but tldr; an AI scans your entries and extracts information about you.

Insights powered by Memory

Context

First we show the context window for the data. So, when you first memorized a journal entry, when you last memorized a journal entry and how many times you have used the feature. The more you use it, the more accurate the results.

Personality: MBTI

It stands for Myers-Briggs Type Indicator also known as the 16 Personality test. This used be a pretty hype thing like years ago but it's still fairly useful. Personalities are pretty complicated but the MBTI framework seems to work fairly. The value the AI generates about is pretty powerful because you can open it up on the main 16 Personalties website and see things like how you might approach relationships, strengths and weaknesses, career paths etc.

Personality: OCEAN

It's a fairly popular framework within psychology and a pretty solid way of figuring out what kind of person you are. Since this is so useful, we also show the general trend of the data.

  • Openness: Refers to a person's tendency to be imaginative, intellectual, curious, and appreciative of new experiences

  • Conscientiousness: Describes a person's tendency to be organized, responsible, and goal-oriented

  • Extraversion: Indicates a person's preference for being social, outgoing, and active

  • Agreeableness: Refers to a person's tendency to be cooperative, empathetic, and trusting

  • Neuroticism: Describes a person's tendency to experience negative emotions, such as anxiety, sadness, and anger.

Core Strengths and Growth Opportunities

Core strengths are fairly simple, they just tell you what you're good at. Growth opportunities show you things that are typically red flags. Things like trust issues and boundary setting. Now while we show this, it should be understood that not a single human being on this planet is perfect. The point of this is literally a growth opportunity and something that you can focus on. It's also fairly general so it'll include things like financial stability even if there isn't much you can do mentally to fix that.

Recurring Themes

This is pretty simple. These are things you seem to write about a lot. It can give you an idea of what's currently on your mind.

Key People and Events

Now we can a look at some fairly complicated stuff: people and events. Firstly let's address some privacy concerns. We actually use Jadebook personally and the idea of storing things like full names, addresses, phone numbers, even by accident is something we want to deal with. That's why we generate the data in a way that doesn't allow for that and have also instructed the AI to never include personal information.

When storing names, only the first name is stored and for key events, only the type of event is stored. We might actually change the key events to include the actual event: Like rather than relationship change it'll show breakup but that's for the future.

We do actually store a couple more things like tags for these items. For example, Friend A might have a tag which is the name of Friend B to show that they're related at some level. The problem was really on how to show that information. We'll figure that part out eventually.

Decision Making and Communication Style

These are how you approach decision, how you solve problems, your risk taking style, how you articulate your thoughts etc.
